Emerging Technologies
Emerging technologies are technologies whose development and practical applications are still not created or achieved . Emerging technology is usually described as a new technology, but it can be also referred as continuation of the development of existing technology.
Different varieties of emerging technologies:
1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence is defined as simulation of human intelligence processed by machines. Artificial Intelligence require specialized foundation of software and hardware for writing and training the machine learning algorithms.
Examples of Artificial Intelligence:
Self- Driving Cars: self-driving cars or autonomous vehicle is a vehicle that has ability to sense its environment and drive safely with no human help.
They are embedded with special sensors like radar, sonar, GPS and odometer.
Smart Home Robots: These robots use artificial intelligence to scan the room size and to detect the obstacles and has ability to remember the routes of cleaning.
2. Virtual Reality (VR)
Virtual Reality is a simulated experience that can be similar or completely different from the real world. Virtual reality is mostly used for entertainment applications like video games, 3D cinema and etc.
Virtual Reality is also used for rehabilitation. For example people having fear of heights (Acrophobia) can conquer their fear using Virtual reality, where they will be placed at a 12th floor of the building in a VR box. Whereas they standing safe at ground floor a building. Hence virtual reality will help them reduce the fear of heights. Researches have proven that improvement is shown in their ability to handle real height situations.

An avatar can be defined as graphical representation of a user. It takes a 2-dimensional form in a internet forums and a 3-dimensional form in the games or virtual worlds.
