Information Literacy


Information Literacy is the ability of a individual to know when and why a individual requires information, recognize the areas where to find information and to identify the process to evaluate and use and communicate it in an ethical manner.

5 components of Information Literacy:

THE PROMPT MODEL

P - Presentation : The information or content must be presented clearly as that states the quality. The language must be appropriate and information must be conveyed clearly, the language shouldn't be poor. Since it will create confusion for the reader and will make understand the information hard.

R - Relevance : The information should match ones needs. The information must related to the topic and not about something else.

0 - Objectivity : Objectivity is a problematic concept. It is require to develop awareness about the views, opinions or interests represented in what you read. Specially in the case of controversial topics (climate change).

M - Method : Clarity of the research carried out. Sources of information or data.

P - Provenance : Clarity in who produced or created the content or information. Mentioned others opinions. Do have trust on the source of information or data?

T - Timelessness : The timeline of the information produced and published. Is the information Up To Date?
